Description
Conception : Chantal Mathieu
These beautiful ergonomic pedals are the result of a collaboration with the great French harpist Chantal Mathieu. Following an injury, Chantal became interested in arts medicine and obtained a diploma in the field.
Playing the harp is strenuous for the body. Chantal noticed that on 18th- and 19th-century harps, the outer pedals were longer than those commonly built today. The longer pedals made it easier for the harpist to reach the pedals without stretching their legs completely, which could cause muscular tension or poor posture of the torso. If any of this happens to you when you have to operate the A, G or D pedals, these extensions could be for you!
The set of 5 ergonomic pedals comes with the following installation tools:
– large flathead screwdriver;
– 2.5 mm hexagonal wrench for adjusting the inclination;
– 3 mm hex key to lock the tilt adjustment.
An installation tutorial is available on the Camac Harps YouTube channel here.
Chantal’s thesis “Des pédales ergonomiques, pour quoi faire” has been published by Editions Alexitère, Revue Médecine des arts N°81. She has also published an article in the A.I.H.A.H. magazine n°61(1) (International Association of Harpists and Friends of the Harp).
